Some call it “adult interning.” Most call it “volunteering.” We call it your “Transition2Work.” However you refer to it, donating your time while learning new skills and gaining connections is becoming a popular route to gaining employment in this challenging job market.

As Roger Lear explains the concept simply in the newsletter, “Many of the volunteers…were managers and associates with either hiring authority or hiring influence. If you are looking for a new job, this is why volunteering can be so valuable.” Volunteering also boosts self-confidence and a sense of self-worth; two traits that are invaluable when job searching, and also during the recovery process after being injured on the job. ReEmployAbility’s Transition2Work program has been designed to help the injured worker to return to gainful employment while benefiting the employer and the community.
